Donations for streamers in Romania, paid and paid out in lei

DonoLink is a European donation platform for streamers, available in Romania for creators on Twitch, YouTube, Kick and TikTok LIVE. Your viewers donate in Romanian lei and your payouts go to your own bank account in RON. They can pay with Revolut Pay, a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, without making an account first.

All EU countries

Taking donations in lei instead of euro or dollars

Romania uses the leu, and your viewers think in lei when they decide how much to tip. When a donation page asks for 5 dollars or 5 euro, a Romanian viewer has to guess what that will cost after their bank converts it, and you lose a bit again when your payout is converted back. It is a small thing, but small things decide whether someone tips or keeps scrolling.

On DonoLink your page runs in RON. You choose preset amounts in lei, for example 10, 25 or 50 lei, the alert on stream shows the amount in lei, and your balance is paid out in RON to your Romanian bank account. No currency conversion on your side, and your viewers see exactly what they will pay.

A goal bar in lei also feels more personal. Saving up for a new camera or a charity stream target reads better when your chat recognises the numbers straight away.

Payment methods Romanian donors can use

Every page supports Visa and Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. For Romania, Revolut Pay is switched on by default. If your viewers use Revolut, they can tip in the app they already have, which is a real convenience.

Local methods show up for donors once Stripe has activated them on your account, so think of Revolut Pay as something you can offer, not something guaranteed from minute one. In your settings you can switch on other methods Stripe supports for RON, with a maximum of six on one donation page. PayPal is coming soon and is not available yet.

Fits the way Romanian streams work

Romanian streamers mostly talk to their community in Romanian, often with friends from Moldova or the Romanian diaspora in Italy, Spain or the UK watching along. Those viewers abroad can tip you too: they simply pay with their card or wallet, and you still receive lei.

DonoLink gives you a free donation page plus overlays for OBS: alerts with your own Romanian text, text to speech for messages, a goal bar, recent donations and a leaderboard. You can block swear words and links, set a minimum before messages appear, and let Linky, the chat bot, drop your link in chat on Twitch or YouTube.

What it costs and how you get paid

DonoLink takes 3.5% of every successful donation and nothing else: no subscription, no setup fee. Stripe charges its own processing costs on your account, which vary by payment method, so check the exact amounts in your Stripe dashboard. Donors can choose to cover the DonoLink fee themselves.

Your money is paid out via Stripe Connect to your own bank account in RON. You complete Stripe's identity check once. Refunds and disputes are handled by Stripe on your account.

How DonoLink compares

You can also use Streamlabs or StreamElements tipping, a Ko-fi page or a PayPal.me link. They all have their place. Compare them on their own sites: what currency your viewers pay in, which methods they can use and what you pay per tip. DonoLink's angle is simple: lei in, lei out, Revolut Pay and wallets for donors, and alerts that just work in OBS.

Remember that donations can be income. Check what applies to you with ANAF, the Romanian tax authority, or ask an adviser.
