Twitch and YouTube donations in Portugal, with MB WAY

DonoLink is a European donation platform for streamers, available in Portugal for creators on Twitch, YouTube, Kick and TikTok LIVE. Portuguese viewers can support you with MB WAY, Multibanco, a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and you receive your payouts in euro on your own bank account. Donors don't need an account, and DonoLink takes 3.5% per successful donation with no monthly plan.

Portuguese viewers pay with their phone number, not PayPal

Ask someone in Lisbon or Porto how they paid their friend back for dinner and the answer is very often MB WAY. The app is linked to Portuguese bank accounts and works with a phone number, which makes it a natural fit for a quick tip during a stream. With DonoLink, a viewer chooses MB WAY, enters the phone number linked to the app, gets a notification and approves the donation in MB WAY. That's it: no card details, no new account.

Multibanco is the other method most people in Portugal know from daily life. The donor receives a reference with an entity number and pays it through home banking or at an ATM. Because the payment happens outside the donation page, confirmation can take a while, so a Multibanco donation will usually show up on your dashboard and overlays later than a card or MB WAY payment. It is great for viewers who prefer not to use a card online, less so for an instant on-screen moment.

This page is in English, but your donors in Portugal see euro amounts and the methods they use every day.

All payment methods for donors in Portugal

MB WAY and Multibanco are switched on by default for Portuguese creators. They appear for donors once Stripe has activated them on your account, so you can offer them, but Stripe controls the timing. Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are always available. You can show up to six methods per donation page and add other methods that Stripe allows for euro accounts, such as Revolut Pay. PayPal is coming soon.

Streaming in Portuguese means a global audience

One thing that makes the Portuguese scene special is the language. Stream in Portuguese and you can pick up viewers from Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and the Portuguese communities in France, Switzerland or Luxembourg. MB WAY and Multibanco are local to Portugal, but viewers abroad can still donate to you by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The amount is charged in euro and their bank converts it on their side, so you don't have to deal with exchange rates.

Your own payout stays simple: euro in, euro out, sent through Stripe Connect to your bank account in Portugal.

Fees, payouts and disputes in plain words

DonoLink keeps 3.5% of each successful donation. There is no subscription. Stripe charges its own processing costs to your account separately, and those differ per method, so an MB WAY payment and a card payment won't cost exactly the same. A donor can choose to cover the DonoLink fee so you get the full amount. Refunds, disputes and chargebacks are handled by Stripe on your own account, and you see everything in your dashboard.

Overlays and alerts for OBS

Every donation can trigger an alert in OBS with your own image, GIF, video, sound and text to speech. Add a goal bar for that new camera, a leaderboard for your top supporters and a recent donations list. Stream events from Twitch, Kick and YouTube, like follows, subs and raids, can trigger alerts too. Linky, the DonoLink chatbot, helps share your link in chat so new viewers know how to support you.

DonoLink compared with Streamlabs, StreamElements, Ko-fi and PayPal.me

Streamlabs and StreamElements are full toolkits with overlays and tipping; before choosing one, check whether your Portuguese viewers can pay with the methods they actually use. Ko-fi works well for memberships and digital products and pays out through PayPal or Stripe. A PayPal.me link is quick to share but has no alerts or goal bar on its own. DonoLink focuses on donations with local methods like MB WAY, a flat 3.5% fee and overlays included.

Donations and tax in Portugal

Donations can be income, particularly once you stream regularly. Check the information from the Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira on the Portal das Finanças, or ask a contabilista. Your DonoLink dashboard keeps a list of donations and payouts that you can use for that.
